Renewed agreement strengthens ongoing support for key community hub serving Filipinos in Singapore.

On 17 June 2025, the Philippine Embassy in Singapore and the Philippine Bayanihan Society of Singapore (PBSS) formally renewed their Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to continue the joint support for the operations and programmes of the Bayanihan Centre. First signed in 2024, the agreement outlines quarterly financial contributions from the Philippine Government to aid in the upkeep and programming of the Centre, a vital institution for the Filipino community in Singapore. This year’s renewal was marked by a modest signing ceremony attended by Embassy officials and PBSS representatives.

Prior to the signing, PBSS Honorary President Atty. Ranvir Kumar Singh presented a comprehensive report on the Centre’s 2024 accomplishments and outlined its Work Plan for 2025. The presentation highlighted various initiatives focused on skills training, cultural events, and community development. These initiatives underscore PBSS’s continued commitment to fulfilling its mandate of providing meaningful support to overseas Filipinos through the Centre’s programmes.

Ambassador Medardo G. Macaraig, who signed the agreement alongside Atty. Singh, urged both the Embassy and PBSS to pursue a long-term development roadmap for the Centre, spanning the next 10 to 20 years. He emphasised the importance of fully harnessing the Centre’s potential, especially in promoting Filipino culture and fostering greater collaboration with Singaporean institutions and stakeholders. The renewed MOA reaffirms the shared commitment of both parties to ensure that the Bayanihan Centre remains a dynamic hub for empowerment, cultural engagement, and community service for Filipinos residing in Singapore.
