Saudi Arabia’s tourism sector sees record-breaking inbound growth driven by Vision 2030 reforms.
RIYADH, Saudi Arabia – Saudi Arabia has recorded over 116 million domestic and international tourists in 2024, marking its second consecutive year of surpassing the 100 million visitor threshold, according to the Ministry of Tourism’s Annual Statistical Report released on 22 June.
Minister of Tourism Ahmed Al-Khateeb attributed the achievement to the strategic support of the Kingdom’s leadership and the reforms outlined under Vision 2030. He said, “Tourism has become a key enabler of Saudi Vision 2030,” highlighting the combined efforts of government entities and private stakeholders in driving rapid sectoral expansion.
Inbound tourism surged by 8% from the previous year, reaching a historic high of 30 million visitors. Spending by international tourists totalled SAR168.5 billion, an impressive 19% rise compared to 2023. Domestic tourism also showed notable momentum, with 86.2 million residents travelling within the Kingdom, spending SAR115.3 billion—a 5% and 6% increase, respectively.

Total tourism expenditure reached SAR284 billion, growing 11% year-over-year. The figures underline Saudi Arabia’s transition from a historically closed-off tourism landscape to an increasingly accessible and attractive destination for global travellers.
The report underscores how ongoing initiatives such as visa reforms, infrastructure investment, and entertainment programming continue to position the Kingdom as a key player in regional and global tourism. The ministry encouraged investors and stakeholders to review the full report, available on its official website.
Saudi Arabia’s tourism strategy forms a vital part of its economic diversification agenda, aiming to make the sector contribute 10% of GDP by 2030 while creating one million jobs.
