Demand for Ruthana Rutab extends across Saudi Arabia. Dates are transported daily to central markets in Riyadh, Jeddah, and the Eastern Region. A significant quantity is also exported to Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. Their seasonal popularity and ease of transport and storage contribute to this demand.

Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Radadi, Chairman of the Madinah Dates Cooperative Association, highlighted Ruthana’s significance. He explained, “The Ruthana palm is one of the first palm species to begin production at the start of the Rutab season. It is considered Madinah’s date fruit, due to its widespread popularity among residents and visitors.”

The Ruthana palm originated in Madinah. Farmers give it special attention due to its high market value. It also offers abundant production, yielding approximately 200 kilograms per palm. The harvest season lasts about 40 days, distinguished by its unique taste and distinctive colour.
