The Royal Thai Embassy reaffirmed the commitment to support for promoting the legacy of Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’s educational mission.

 SINGAPORE — Her Excellency Mrs Ureerat Chareontoh, Ambassador of Thailand to Singapore, welcomed a delegation from the Princess Maha Chakri Award Foundation (PMCA) at the Royal Thai Embassy on 21 July 2025. The delegation was led by Dr Krissanapong Kirtikara, Chairman of the Foundation, and included working teams from Thailand.

The visit aimed to strengthen the Foundation’s mission regionally and internationally, with a focus on Singapore and ASEAN member countries. The discussion brought together Team Thailand, representatives from the Thai private sector in Singapore, officials from Singapore’s Ministry of Education, and Singaporean teachers who have previously recieved the Princess Maha Chakri Award.

During the meeting, the delegation provided an overview of the Foundation’s work, which was established to honour Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn for her lifelong dedication to advancing education and improving the quality of life for underprivileged communities across the region. The Princess Maha Chakri Award is presented biennially to exceptional teachers from ASEAN countries, along with Timor-Leste, Bangladesh, Bhutan, and Mongolia, recognising their outstanding contributions to transforming students’ lives and strengthening communities.

Participants exchanged views on the critical role of educators in shaping societies and education systems, and discussed avenues to better support PMCA awardees. They also considered ways to increase international awareness of the Award and explored ideas for collaborative post-award activities, such as the PMCA Forum, teacher capacity-building initiatives, and cross-border educational exchanges.

Ambassador Ureerat reaffirmed the Royal Thai Embassy’s commitment to supporting the Foundation’s goals, particularly in fostering teacher networks, promoting the Award’s profile internationally, and enhancing sustainable educational cooperation between Thailand, Singapore and the broader region.
