Singapore’s Trade Minister met the new US Ambassador to reaffirm bilateral ties and explore collaboration in emerging energy technologies.
The Minister for Trade and Industry met the newly appointed United States Ambassador to Singapore, Dr Anjani Sinha, yesterday, marking one of the first formal engagements between the Ambassador and the Singapore Government. Their discussions covered a wide range of topics, including trade, healthcare delivery, and Singapore’s education system.
Both sides also explored opportunities for deeper cooperation in the energy sector. The United States recently added Singapore to its list of Generally Authorised Destinations for the export of specified controlled nuclear technology and assistance. This development is expected to support Singapore’s engagements with US companies and institutions as the country builds capabilities to study the potential future deployment of nuclear energy.
The Minister underscored the longstanding and mutually beneficial economic partnership between Singapore and the United States. The US remains one of Singapore’s most significant economic partners, with next year marking the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Singapore expressed its readiness to work closely with Ambassador Sinha and the US Embassy team to further strengthen bilateral economic cooperation and explore new areas of strategic collaboration.
