Defence experts from ASEAN Member States convened in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, over the past two days for the 7th Annual Meeting of the Network of ASEAN CBR Defence Experts. The gathering brought together regional representatives and international domain specialists to discuss ways of strengthening collective capabilities to counter Chemical, Biological, and Radiological (CBR) threats.

Hosted in collaboration with partner organisations, the meeting served as a platform for participants to exchange insights on emerging CBR challenges and assess regional preparedness. Experts reviewed developments in CBR forensics, crisis response mechanisms, and tools that enhance early detection and coordinated action across borders.

The discussions focused on the meeting’s theme, “Advancing CBR Forensics in ASEAN: Strengthening Regional Capabilities Through Collaboration and Preparedness.” Participants explored opportunities for deeper cooperation, capacity-building programmes, and knowledge-sharing initiatives aimed at reinforcing ASEAN’s operational readiness.

The event reaffirmed the region’s commitment to enhancing CBR threat management through sustained collaboration, technical expertise, and coordinated policy development.
