
Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi’s visit strengthened cooperation on nuclear safety, sustainability, and capacity building.
SINGAPORE — Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Mariano Grossi, visited Singapore on 25 July under the S R Nathan Fellowship Programme.
During his visit, Director General Grossi called on President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Lawrence Wong. He also met Minister for Manpower and Minister-in-charge of Energy and Science & Technology, Tan See Leng, and Minister for Sustainability and the Environment, Grace Fu. As part of his programme, Director General Grossi and Minister Grace Fu signed the IAEA–Singapore Third Country Training Programme Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). He also delivered a lecture hosted by the Singapore Nuclear Research and Safety Institute (SNRSI) and toured the National Environment Agency and SNRSI facilities to strengthen technical cooperation and knowledge exchange.
The S R Nathan Fellowship is a high-level initiative that invites global leaders, prominent figures, and opinion shapers to Singapore to exchange ideas and share insights with Singaporean leaders and senior officials on issues of mutual interest.
