The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) celebrated its 58th anniversary on 8 August 2025 with a landmark event at the World Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan — the first time ASEAN Day has been observed at a World Expo. The celebrations also took place at the ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta, Indonesia.

In Osaka, the anniversary was marked with a parade, flag-hoisting ceremony, press conference, and reception, all highlighting ASEAN’s cultural diversity and shared vision. The event was presided over by H.E. Satvinder Singh, Deputy Secretary-General for the ASEAN Economic Community, who reaffirmed ASEAN’s commitment to sustainable and inclusive growth under the ASEAN Community Vision 2045.

Adding a cultural flourish, C asean presented a musical performance featuring traditional Southeast Asian instruments, symbolising the unity and diversity within the region. The event received support from the Japan-ASEAN Integration Fund (JAIF) and the AirAsia Foundation, reflecting the collaborative partnerships that underpin ASEAN’s initiatives.

The historic celebration in Osaka not only marked an organisational milestone but also reinforced ASEAN’s dedication to promoting sustainable development, regional integration, and international cooperation. As ASEAN advances towards its long-term vision, the anniversary events at the World Expo showcased the region’s enduring spirit of unity and progress on the global stage.
