BURAIDAH, Saudi Arabia — The Buraidah Dates Carnival has recorded sales exceeding SAR106 million (approximately £22.6 million) within its first 15 days. The festival, which takes place in the Al Qassim Province, has attracted a high volume of shoppers and traders from across Saudi Arabia and the Gulf states. This strong purchasing activity highlights the event’s growing economic significance.

Official statistics show that sales reached SAR106,639,713 as of August 17, 2025. This was driven by a total of 20,783 vehicles arriving at the market. The volume of dates sold amounted to 13,905 tonnes, packed in over 3.4 million cartons. The event is recognised as the world’s largest date festival, drawing visitors and traders from across the region.

The carnival serves as a vital platform for marketing and exporting Saudi dates. It features a wide variety of dates, including over 100 types from Qassim farms, and hosts farmers, traders, and date enthusiasts. The event’s success supports the local agricultural economy and aligns with Saudi Arabia’s goals for food security and economic diversification under Vision 2030.

Beyond trade, the Buraidah Dates Carnival includes a range of cultural and social activities. It also provides seasonal job opportunities for Saudi youth, empowering them with experience in the agricultural sector.
