SINGAPORE – Officials from the Philippine Embassy in Singapore visited the National University of Singapore (NUS) to extend support to Barangay NUS, a Filipino Cultural Club led by undergraduate students. The visit coincided with the university’s annual Student Life Fair (SLF), held from 13 to 14 August.

The Student Life Fair is NUS’s largest annual showcase of student-led initiatives, featuring more than 200 co-curricular activities, including performing arts, cultural organisations, sports, and leadership societies. The event encourages students to engage in diverse communities and develop skills beyond the classroom.

This year’s fair took place in the same week as the global observance of International Youth Day on 12 August, further highlighting the contributions of young people to cultural exchange, inclusion, and social participation.

The Embassy praised the efforts of Filipino students in promoting Philippine culture and identity within the wider NUS community. It also reaffirmed its support for Filipino students and faculty across Singapore’s universities and tertiary institutions in strengthening cultural engagement and fostering cross-cultural understanding.
