Singapore, 27 August 2025 — The President of the Republic of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, is on a three-day State Visit to Singapore from 26 to 28 August 2025 at the invitation of President Tharman Shanmugaratnam. This marks President Mahama’s first official State Visit to Singapore and reflects the deepening of relations between the two countries.
The visit began with a ceremonial welcome and a call on President Tharman, who hosted a State Banquet in President Mahama’s honour. President Mahama also met Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Lawrence Wong, with discussions centred on expanding bilateral economic cooperation. Their meeting was followed by the signing of Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) to strengthen collaboration in trade, education, and innovation.
As part of his programme, President Mahama addressed the 8th Africa–Singapore Business Forum (ASBF), where he delivered the keynote speech to an audience of government and business leaders. He also participated in a roundtable with Singapore enterprises interested in investment opportunities in Ghana, organised by the Singapore Business Federation (SBF).
Later today, President Mahama is scheduled to visit the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) to study Singapore’s higher education pathways, and Biopolis, the nation’s life sciences and biotechnology hub, to explore models of public-private research collaboration.
Accompanying him is a high-level delegation including Minister for Foreign Affairs Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, Minister for Education Haruna Iddrisu, and other senior officials. The visit highlights Ghana’s commitment to building stronger economic and institutional linkages with Singapore.
