Prime Minister Wong’s first visit to India reaffirms Singapore–India ties with high-level meetings in New Delhi.
Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Lawrence Wong is on an Official Visit to India from 2 to 4 September 2025, at the invitation of Prime Minister of the Republic of India, Narendra Modi. The visit coincides with the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Singapore and India, underscoring both countries’ commitment to deepening cooperation.

In New Delhi, Prime Minister Wong is calling on President Droupadi Murmu and meeting Prime Minister Modi, who is hosting a Banquet Lunch in his honour. He is also holding separate meetings with Minister of Health and Family Welfare and Minister of Chemicals and Fertilisers Jagat Prakash Nadda, Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs Nirmala Sitharaman, Minister of External Affairs Dr Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Minister of Education Dharmendra Pradhan, and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. In addition, Prime Minister Wong is visiting the Raj Ghat to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi.

As part of the programme, Prime Minister Wong is meeting overseas Singaporeans at a reception in New Delhi to commemorate both the 60th anniversary of Singapore–India diplomatic relations and Singapore’s 60th year of independence (SG60). He is also engaging with leading Indian business representatives at a closed-door roundtable.
Prime Minister Wong is accompanied by Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Acting Minister for Transport and Senior Minister of State for Finance Jeffrey Siow, and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and for Trade and Industry Gan Siow Huang. Officials from the Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Trade and Industry, Ministry of Transport, and Ministry of Digital Development and Information are also part of the delegation.
