SINGAPORE, 3 September 2025 – The Philippine Embassy in Singapore participated in the inaugural ASEAN U.N.I.T.E. picnic and clean-up activity organised by the Public Hygiene Council (PHC) on 31 August 2025. The event, held in celebration of Singapore’s 60th year of independence (SG60) and SG Clean Day, also served as the conclusion of ASEAN Month in August.

The activity brought together ASEAN diplomatic missions, the Filipino community, volunteers, sponsors, and members of the public in a joint effort to promote environmental awareness. Philippine Ambassador to Singapore Medardo G. Macaraig congratulated the PHC on the successful initiative and encouraged participants to continue playing their part in keeping both Singapore and their home countries clean.
PHC expressed appreciation to Ambassador Macaraig for attending the SG60 National Day celebration, noting the importance of fostering closer ASEAN ties while raising awareness about sustainability and hygiene.

The event drew over 600 participants, creating opportunities for cross-cultural exchange through food, interactive booths, and cultural performances. The programme also included educational activities such as trivia quizzes on Singapore’s history and waste management, including proper food waste segregation and responsible disposal practices.
Filipino migrant workers, alongside other participants and children, actively joined the activities, reflecting the strong support of the Filipino community for initiatives that promote civic responsibility and environmental care. The Philippine Embassy commended the community’s continued engagement in Singapore’s multicultural and civic events.
