The Peranakan Museum unveils a vibrant exhibition tracing the enduring cultural, spiritual, and artistic significance of the peacock from October 2025 to August 2026.

The Peranakan Museum in Singapore will present Peacock Power: Beauty and Symbolism Across Cultures from 31 October 2025 to 30 August 2026, showcasing the peacock’s prominence in art, spirituality, and daily life across Asia. Open daily from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm, and extended until 9:00 pm on Fridays, the exhibition invites visitors to explore centuries of history and artistic exchange. Admission is priced at $6 for Singaporeans and Permanent Residents, and $18 for foreign residents and tourists.

With its iridescent plumage and commanding presence, the peacock has been celebrated as a universal emblem of beauty, power, and divinity. The exhibition traces how the motif travelled across borders, influencing sacred images, decorative arts, and cultural identity. Beginning with Peranakan art—known for its fusion of diverse traditions—the exhibition showcases treasures from the National Collection alongside loans from important institutions. Visitors will encounter objects that reveal how motifs shift and evolve as they move between communities, highlighting the cultural networks that bind Asia together.

The exhibition blends traditional and contemporary perspectives, featuring vibrant displays, interactive learning stations, and a new commissioned work by artist Ernest Goh. His installation reinterprets the peacock’s symbolism, linking cultural heritage with ecological awareness.

By weaving history, art, and nature, Peacock Power offers an engaging exploration of how a single motif continues to inspire across time and place.
