Speaking at the closing ceremony, RSN Fleet Commander Rear-Admiral Kwan Hon Chuong highlighted the importance of sustained collaboration between both navies. He said, “This marks the 33rd time our navies have come together since 1984, a clear sign of how far we have progressed as partners. Exercise Malapura remains the hallmark exercise between both our countries, showcasing deep trust, mutual respect, and unwavering commitment.”

Director Readiness, Western Fleet, Captain Jamhari bin Katimin, emphasised the continued value of Exercise Malapura as a platform for strengthening ties. He noted that the annual interaction had evolved into a benchmark of professional cooperation and friendship.

First held in 1984, Exercise Malapura remains a cornerstone of Singapore–Malaysia defence cooperation. Both navies continue to engage through bilateral exchanges, professional courses, and multilateral frameworks such as the Five Power Defence Arrangements and the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM/ADMM-Plus). These ongoing interactions underscore their shared commitment to regional peace, stability, and maritime security.
