Singapore, 11 November 2025 — Singapore welcomed Ms Ntsiki Biyela, South Africa’s first black female winemaker and founder of Aslina Wines, whose visit marked a new chapter in cultural and economic exchange between Singapore and South Africa. Hosted by the South African High Commission in partnership with South African Wine Cellar, the roadshow brought together wine enthusiasts, industry leaders, and trade representatives to celebrate the spirit of innovation and diversity in winemaking.

Over a series of exclusive events — including a seven-course wine-pairing dinner at Tamba, masterclasses, and media tastings — Singaporeans were introduced to South Africa’s vibrant wine heritage and Ntsiki’s personal journey of perseverance and success. Her story resonated deeply with participants, reflecting shared values of excellence, inclusivity, and entrepreneurship that underpin both nations’ progress.

Beyond the celebration of fine wines, the visit served as a platform to promote deeper collaboration in the agri-food and tourism sectors. It also reinforced Singapore’s role as a gateway for South African producers seeking to expand their presence in Asia’s dynamic and growing consumer markets.

Singaporean partners and attendees commended the event for fostering meaningful people-to-people connections and expanding bilateral engagement beyond traditional trade. The showcase not only elevated South African wine appreciation but also highlighted opportunities for collaboration in creative industries, tourism, and sustainable business practices.

Through such initiatives, Singapore continues to support cross-cultural exchanges that strengthen its global partnerships and promote mutual understanding. The event exemplified how shared passions — from art to agriculture — can build bridges of cooperation and inspire future collaboration between nations.
