Singapore welcomed Liechtenstein’s Deputy Prime Minister Sabine Monauni on her first visit to the country, where she attended the Future of Investment and Trade Partnership (FIT-P) Ministerial Meeting. The meeting gathered like-minded small and medium-sized economies focused on advancing an open, fair, and rules-based global trading system.

During her visit, Deputy Prime Minister Monauni met Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan. Both sides reaffirmed the warm and longstanding ties between Singapore and Liechtenstein, underpinned by similar outlooks as small, open economies that place strong emphasis on connectivity, trade, and multilateral cooperation.

Dr Balakrishnan noted Liechtenstein’s strong reputation as one of Europe’s most industrialised and innovative economies, as well as its role as a prominent financial hub. The meeting provided an opportunity to review ongoing cooperation across multilateral platforms and discuss global economic developments affecting small states.

The two leaders also explored potential new areas of collaboration, particularly in digital trade. They highlighted the significance of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA)–Singapore Digital Economy Agreement signed in September 2025, which is expected to boost cross-border digital connectivity and support business innovation.

Deputy Prime Minister Monauni’s participation in the FIT-P Ministerial Meeting demonstrated Liechtenstein’s continued commitment to working with Singapore and other partners to strengthen the global trading architecture. Both countries expressed confidence that their cooperation would deepen further in the years ahead.
