
SINGAPORE AND KAGOSHIMA REAFFIRMED LONGSTANDING RELATIONS AND EXPLORED WAYS TO STRENGTHEN COOPERATION ACROSS MULTIPLE SECTORS.
SINGAPORE, 16 JANUARY 2026 — The 22nd Singapore–Kagoshima Conference (SKC) was held in Singapore, bringing together senior representatives from Singapore and Japan to strengthen bilateral cooperation.

The Singapore delegation was led by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and for Trade and Industry, Ms Gan Siow Huang, while the Kagoshima delegation was headed by the Governor of Kagoshima Prefecture, His Excellency Mr Shiota Koichi. During the conference, Ms Gan and Governor Shiota reaffirmed the longstanding and warm relations between Singapore and Kagoshima.


Participants held discussions on enhancing cooperation in areas including trade, tourism, arts and culture, and people-to-people exchanges. Both sides also welcomed the convening of the 22nd SKC as part of the broader high-level exchanges between Singapore and Japan, as the two countries mark the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2026.
Established in 1982, the Singapore–Kagoshima Conference is a biennial platform aimed at promoting closer cooperation and mutual understanding between Singapore and Kagoshima Prefecture.
