SINGAPORE AND CHINA AGREED TO DEEPEN EXHIBITION INDUSTRY COOPERATION THROUGH A NEW FRAMEWORK SUPPORTING TRADE, INNOVATION AND MICE DEVELOPMENT.

SINGAPORE, 22 January 2026 — The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), marking the first agreement between the two organisations focused specifically on cooperation in the exhibition industry. The signing took place in Singapore and China, reflecting the bilateral nature of the partnership.

The three-year MOU establishes a cooperative framework across three key areas. Under exhibition facilitation support, CCPIT will encourage Chinese exhibition enterprises and institutions to organise international economic and trade exhibitions in Singapore, while STB will provide assistance through government liaison and industry connections. Both parties will also undertake joint promotion efforts to support international exhibitions in sectors of shared interest, including advanced manufacturing, clean energy, technology and innovation, and healthcare. In addition, the agreement seeks to deepen MICE exchange and cooperation through knowledge sharing and collaboration in areas such as sustainable development, digital transformation and talent cultivation.

Speaking on the agreement, CCPIT Director General of the Exhibition Management Department, Mr Wu Shengrong, said the MOU was an important step in strengthening China–Singapore cooperation in the exhibition industry and in enhancing regional economic and trade relations. STB’s Executive Director for Exhibitions and Conferences, Mr Poh Chi Chuan, noted that the partnership would support greater participation by Chinese organisations in exhibitions held in Singapore, reinforcing Singapore’s role as a gateway to the Asia-Pacific region.

With Singapore’s established infrastructure and strategic location, and China’s strong market presence across key sectors, the collaboration is expected to deliver meaningful benefits to the regional MICE ecosystem while creating platforms for Chinese enterprises to showcase innovation and build partnerships across Asia Pacific.
