The National Space Agency of Singapore will lead national space ambitions and strengthen Singapore’s role in the global space economy.

The Singapore Government will establish the National Space Agency of Singapore (NSAS) from 1 April 2026. The new agency will be set up under the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) to lead Singapore’s national space ambitions and position the country as a leader in space technologies and a credible contributor to the global space ecosystem.

The establishment of NSAS was announced by Minister for Manpower and Minister-in-charge of Energy and Science & Technology at MTI, Dr Tan See Leng, during his Guest-of-Honour address at the inaugural Space Summit 2026 on 2 February 2026.

Space technologies play a critical role in Singapore’s open and highly connected economy. They support key functions such as digital connectivity, navigation, maritime monitoring, and climate resilience. Singapore’s strengths in advanced manufacturing, aerospace, micro-electronics, precision engineering, and artificial intelligence place it in a strong position to capture new opportunities in the growing space sector.

Singapore is currently home to around 70 space companies, employing about 2,000 professionals across the space value chain, from manufacturing space components to providing satellite-based services. Singapore has also built partnerships with international space agencies, including the European Space Agency, India’s IN-SPACe, the UAE Space Agency, and Thailand’s Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency.

NSAS will build on the existing work of the Office of Space Technology & Industry, Singapore (OSTIn). Its expanded mandate includes strengthening the research and development ecosystem, developing the local space industry, advancing international partnerships, operating national space capabilities, and developing space legislation that supports innovation while ensuring safety and sustainability. The global space economy is projected to reach US$1.8 trillion by 2035, offering significant growth opportunities.

Ms Ngiam Le Na will be appointed Chief Executive (Designate) of NSAS from 2 February 2026, and will assume the role of Chief Executive from 1 April 2026. She will step down from her current role as Deputy Chief Executive Officer at DSO National Laboratories. Ms Ngiam has 25 years of public service experience and has held senior roles at agencies including DSTA. She has overseen the development of Earth observation satellites and contributed to national efforts in areas such as maritime security, disaster response, counter-drone capabilities, and pandemic management.

The establishment of NSAS signals Singapore’s long-term commitment to becoming a leading space nation by leveraging its technological strengths, strategic location, and pro-business environment.
