Saudi Arabia is progressing towards building an integrated national artificial intelligence ecosystem aligned with Vision 2030, according to the President of the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority. The approach emphasises human capacity, innovation and governance as core pillars of AI development
Speaking on the sidelines of the India AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi, Abdullah Al-Ghamdi, President of the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), said the Kingdom is positioning artificial intelligence as a trusted national capability. He noted that AI is expected to support the development of government services, enhance economic competitiveness and contribute to improvements in quality of life.
Al-Ghamdi explained that the national AI strategy is built on three main pillars. “The first pillar focuses on building human capacity and enhancing readiness to engage with AI technologies,” he said, highlighting the importance of skills development and workforce preparedness to support long-term adoption across sectors.
The second pillar centres on developing an integrated national AI ecosystem. According to Al-Ghamdi, this involves strengthening advanced digital infrastructure to enable sectors to adopt AI applications efficiently and consistently, while supporting innovation and expansion through coordinated frameworks and institutions.
The third pillar focuses on governance, aimed at ensuring responsible and measurable use of artificial intelligence. Al-Ghamdi said this would be guided by a national framework aligned with international standards, providing clarity for stakeholders while addressing ethical and regulatory considerations. Observers at the summit noted that such an approach reflects broader global discussions on balancing innovation with accountability as AI adoption accelerates.
