Business leaders will gather at AMIC on 23 March 2026 for a fireside chat on China’s economic direction and its impact on Singapore companies.
A fireside chat focusing on China’s economic future and its impact on regional businesses will take place on 23 March 2026 at the Advanced Manufacturing Innovation Centre (AMIC) in Singapore. The event, scheduled from 10:00am to 12:15pm, aims to provide insights into China’s upcoming policy priorities and what they could mean for Singapore companies.
The session will feature H.E. Cao Zhongming as the Guest-of-Honour. The discussion will be moderated by Huay Leng Lee, Editor-in-Chief of SPH Chinese Media. The event will bring together business leaders, industry professionals, and stakeholders interested in understanding China’s evolving economic policies and regional opportunities.
The fireside chat will explore China’s national development direction for the period 2026–2030, which will be guided by two major policy frameworks: the 15th Five-Year Plan and the 2026 Lianghui (Two Sessions). These policy initiatives are expected to shape priorities in areas such as technology, industrial development, regulatory reforms, and investment flows across Asia.
Organisers say understanding these policy directions is important for businesses in Singapore and the wider region, as China remains a key economic partner and an influential player in global supply chains.
One of the main topics will be the priorities of China’s 15th Five-Year Plan. The discussion will highlight strategic sectors that China is expected to emphasise, as well as innovation and industrial focus areas. Speakers will also discuss how these priorities could affect supply chains in ASEAN and the Asia-Pacific region.
Another key segment will focus on insights from the 2026 Lianghui meetings, which set policy directions and regulatory adjustments for the country. Participants will learn about potential impacts on competitiveness, business readiness, and short-term business decision-making.
The fireside chat will also examine China–Singapore cooperation in the new era, including collaboration in the digital economy, green technology, and manufacturing partnerships. Strengthening financial connectivity between the two economies will also be discussed.
In addition, the event will cover practical guidance for partnering with Chinese counterparts, including effective engagement strategies and opportunities for regional or third-country collaboration.
Organisers say the event aims to help companies better anticipate economic trends and prepare for emerging opportunities linked to China’s development strategies.
Registration for the fireside chat is currently open, and interested participants can sign up through the official registration link.
