Malaysia’s High Commission in Singapore launches diplomatic outreach to encourage Singaporeans, residents, and visitors to experience Malaysia during Visit Malaysia Year 2026.
In support of the global tourism campaign Visit Malaysia Year 2026 (VM2026), diplomatic efforts are being strengthened to promote Malaysia as a leading travel destination. The initiative is supported by the High Commission of Malaysia in Singapore, bringing together tourism promotion, cultural diplomacy, and regional cooperation.
Visit Malaysia 2026 highlights the very best that Malaysia has to offer to the world in a single, event-packed year. The year 2026 is meaningful for Malaysians as the nation reflects on its journey from a colonial past to becoming a vibrant, multicultural and dynamic country.

The campaign invites partners, communities, and travelers to come together to ensure the success of this national tourism initiative. Through collaborative promotion, Malaysia aims to showcase its culture, nature, heritage, and hospitality to global audiences.
A key pillar of the campaign is the iconic tourism tagline “Malaysia Truly Asia.” The slogan has been used for more than two decades and is widely recognized around the world as Malaysia’s tourism identity. It positions Malaysia as a destination where travelers can experience the diversity of Asian cultures in one country.
The tagline reflects several important elements of the nation’s identity:
- It correctly positions Malaysia as a unique travel destination.
- It represents Malaysia’s diverse ethnic communities and vibrant cultures.
- It highlights the harmonious blend of Asian traditions, cuisines, and lifestyles.
- For international tourists, “Truly Asia” has become synonymous with Malaysia.

As part of diplomatic outreach, H.E. Dato’ Indera Dr. Azfar Mohamad Mustafar, the High Commissioner of Malaysia to Singapore, has extended an open invitation to Singaporeans, residents, and visitors in Singapore to visit Malaysia during this special year.
He encouraged travelers to explore Malaysia’s diverse attractions, from heritage cities and cultural festivals to beaches, rainforests, and world-famous cuisine. The High Commissioner emphasized that Visit Malaysia Year 2026 offers a unique opportunity for visitors to experience the country’s hospitality, multicultural traditions, and natural beauty.
This diplomatic initiative aims to strengthen tourism ties between Malaysia and Singapore while encouraging regional travel.
Mascots of Visit Malaysia 2026
The campaign introduces two mascots inspired by the Malayan Sun Bear, the smallest bear species in the world.
WIRA – the male mascot
MANJA – the female mascot

The mascots symbolize inclusivity, diversity, and Malaysia’s commitment to wildlife conservation. They are designed in a friendly animated style to appeal to families, children, and international visitors.
To reflect Malaysia’s multicultural identity, the mascots will also appear wearing traditional costumes from the country’s major ethnic groups: Malay, Chinese, Indian, Sabah, and Sarawak.

These costumes highlight Malaysia’s cultural richness and reinforce the message of unity in diversity.
Through these symbols and campaigns, Visit Malaysia 2026 aims to bring people together while showcasing the nation’s unique blend of cultures, traditions, and experiences.
This initiative marks the beginning of a series of engagements and promotional activities related to Visit Malaysia Year 2026, aimed at raising awareness and encouraging more travelers to discover Malaysia.
