
ReCAAP member states review maritime security cooperation and piracy developments during 20th Governing Council meeting in Singapore
The ReCAAP Information Sharing Centre (ReCAAP ISC) convened its 20th Governing Council Meeting in Singapore, bringing together Governors and representatives from 19 ReCAAP member states. The meeting served as a platform for member states to review the Centre’s activities and discuss strategic priorities for maritime security cooperation.

During the session, Governors were briefed on ReCAAP ISC’s activities for fiscal year 2025 and its work plan for 2026 and beyond. Updates also covered the Centre’s external engagements and ongoing initiatives aimed at strengthening regional collaboration on maritime security.
Discussions focused on the strategic direction of the Centre and how it can adapt to emerging maritime challenges while continuing to support the needs of maritime stakeholders across the region. Governors highlighted the importance of strengthening operational frameworks and enhancing cooperation among member states.
The Governing Council also exchanged views on the latest developments related to piracy and armed robbery at sea in Asia. Participants discussed the evolving maritime security environment and explored ways to further enhance information sharing and coordinated responses to security threats in regional waters.
Through the meeting, ReCAAP member states reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation and ensuring the continued effectiveness of the Centre in promoting safe and secure maritime trade routes in Asia.
