Philippine Embassy launches digital handbook to guide and support Filipinos living and working in Singapore
The Philippine Embassy in Singapore launched the first edition of its 2026 Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) Digital Handbook, aimed at supporting newly arrived Filipinos in Singapore. The initiative forms part of the Embassy’s efforts to enhance access to essential information and services for the Filipino community.
The digital handbook provides practical guidance on living and working in Singapore, including an overview of consular and labour-related services offered by the Embassy and its partner agencies. These include the Migrant Workers Office Singapore (MWO), Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), Pag-IBIG Fund, and Social Security System Philippines (SSS).
The handbook was introduced during the first quarterly Ugnayan engagement with members of the Filipino community. Joyleen E Santos, Consul General, presented the digital guide and encouraged Filipinos in Singapore, including long-term residents, to utilise the resource. She noted that the handbook also includes information on reintegration programmes for overseas workers.
Singapore is home to more than 220,000 Filipinos, with a significant proportion employed in professional and skilled roles, as well as in household services. The handbook aims to assist new arrivals, as well as those planning to work or study in Singapore, in adapting to local conditions and accessing available support systems.
In his remarks, Medardo G Macaraig, Ambassador of the Philippines to Singapore, highlighted that the initiative reflects the Embassy’s continued commitment to promoting the welfare and interests of Filipinos overseas.
The OFW Digital Handbook complements a separate Travel Guide for Filipino short-term visitors released earlier in January 2026, further expanding the Embassy’s digital resources for the community.
