Chinese Ambassador H.E. Cao Zhongming shares insights on China’s 2026–2030 plans during a key event in Singapore.
A special fireside chat was held at the Advanced Manufacturing Innovation Centre (AMIC) in Singapore, where Chinese Ambassador H.E. Cao Zhongming spoke about China’s future plans. The event took place recently and brought together industry leaders and participants to discuss China’s direction for 2026 to 2030.
The session focused on China’s upcoming 15th Five-Year Plan and the 2026 Lianghui meetings. It was moderated by Ms. Huay Leng Lee, who guided the discussion on important economic and technological topics.

One of the main highlights was the rise of computing power and algorithms. The ambassador explained how China is working toward building a “Digital China,” where technology and data play a major role in economic growth.
Artificial intelligence was also discussed as an area of cooperation between China and Singapore. Both countries are looking for ways to work together and benefit from AI development.

Another key topic was “involution,” or intense competition within industries. The ambassador said China is taking steps to reduce unhealthy competition and create a more stable and fair business environment.
Supply chain resilience was also addressed. Participants noted that Singapore can act as a strong regional hub to support Chinese companies expanding globally.
The discussion also explored the Hainan Free Trade Port, which offers new opportunities for Singapore businesses to enter Chinese markets.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Lennon Tan highlighted the strong relationship between Singapore and China. He said both countries should work together rather than compete, especially as Singapore aims to grow its manufacturing sector by 50% under its Manufacturing 2030 plan.
The event showed the importance of understanding China’s move toward digital and intelligent development, especially for regional partners like Singapore.
