
Songkran Festival 2026 in Singapore strengthens cultural ties with large-scale community celebration
The Songkran Festival 2026 was held in Singapore, attracting more than 8,000 participants from the Thai community, local residents, and international visitors. The event aimed to promote cultural exchange and celebrate Thailand’s traditional New Year festival.




The celebration was officiated by Chonlatee Chanrachakul, Chargé d’Affaires a.i., who highlighted Songkran as a symbol of gratitude, family unity, and friendship. The festival also marked the recognition of Songkran as an Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO.

The programme featured a range of family-oriented activities, including recreational zones, cultural showcases, and interactive experiences. Performances such as Muay Thai demonstrations and live music contributed to the cultural atmosphere, while food offerings from Thai restaurants in Singapore provided authentic culinary experiences.

The event was supported by partners including the Tourism Authority of Thailand Singapore Office, as well as community organisations and private sector contributors. Their involvement facilitated the organisation of activities designed to engage participants of all ages.
