
The Embassy of Greece in Singapore participated in the 35th European Film Festival with the screening of “Stelios,” a biographical drama that was warmly received by festival audiences.
Singapore, 16 May 2026 – The Embassy of Greece in Singapore took part in the 35th European Film Festival (EUFF) with the screening of the acclaimed Greek film “Stelios”, directed by Yorgos Tsemberopoulos and starring Christos Mastoras.
The screening, held on 16 May as part of the annual festival programme, attracted film enthusiasts and members of Singapore’s multicultural audience. According to the Embassy, the film received a warm and enthusiastic response from attendees, highlighting the growing appreciation for Greek cinema on the international stage.
“Stelios” formed part of the European Film Festival’s diverse lineup, which showcases cinematic works from across Europe and promotes cultural exchange through film. The festival has become a key platform for European diplomatic missions in Singapore to present their countries’ artistic and cultural achievements to local audiences.

Following the successful screening, the Embassy of Greece expressed its appreciation to the European Union, the Singapore Film Society, and The Projector Filmhouse for organizing the festival and providing a platform for cultural engagement through cinema.
The Embassy also extended its gratitude to the production company Tanweer, as well as the Greek National Tourism Organisation and the Municipality of Santorini, for their support and contribution of promotional materials that helped showcase Greece’s cultural and tourism offerings during the event.
The participation of Greece in the festival reflects the country’s continued commitment to promoting Greek culture, storytelling, and creative industries abroad while strengthening cultural ties with Singapore and the wider international community.
With another successful edition concluded, the Embassy expressed its anticipation for the European Film Festival 2027, reaffirming its support for future cultural collaborations and cinematic exchanges.
The event underscored the important role of film as a bridge between cultures and highlighted the enduring appeal of Greek cinema among global audiences.
