The Seoul Design Foundation has launched the Seoul Design AI Film Festival 2026, inviting artists and creators worldwide to showcase innovative AI-driven media art for projection on the iconic Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP).

Seoul, South Korea – The Seoul Design Foundation has announced the launch of the Seoul Design AI Film Festival 2026, a global competition that aims to promote the creative fusion of artificial intelligence and design.

The festival is part of the Foundation’s vision to transform Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) into a world-renowned hub for media art. Through the competition, artists, designers, filmmakers, and AI creators from around the world are invited to submit original works that combine artistic imagination with cutting-edge AI technology.

DDP is widely recognized as a landmark of innovation and design. Its signature project, “Seoul Light DDP,” has achieved international recognition by winning the world’s three major design awards—iF Design Award, Red Dot Design Award, and IDEA Design Award. It has also been officially recorded in the Guinness World Records as the “World’s Largest 3D Mapping on an Atypical Building.”

Selected entries will receive the unique opportunity to have their works projected onto DDP’s massive 222-meter curved exterior wall, offering creators an international platform to present their visions to a global audience.

The Seoul Design Foundation stated that the festival seeks high-quality media art projects that demonstrate the creative possibilities of AI technology while contributing to the future of digital art and design.

The competition is open to participants from both South Korea and overseas, encouraging global collaboration and innovation in media art.
