High-level discussions in Singapore underscored growing bilateral cooperation and renewed support for stronger Türkiye-ASEAN engagement amid evolving regional and global challenges.

The official visit of Hakan Fidan to Singapore on 1–2 June 2026 highlighted the steady expansion of bilateral relations and a shared commitment to strengthening cooperation across economic, strategic, and regional priorities.

During the visit, H.E. Mr. Hakan Fidan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Lawrence Wong, Prime Minister and Minister for Finance of Singapore. The leaders reaffirmed the strong and longstanding relationship between their countries and explored opportunities to expand collaboration in areas of mutual interest. Prime Minister Wong welcomed Türkiye’s intention to deepen engagement with Singapore and the wider Southeast Asian region, including through closer cooperation with Association of Southeast Asian Nations. Both sides also exchanged views on key international developments and geopolitical trends.

Mr. Fidan later held discussions with H.E. Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Singapore, during a working lunch. The two ministers reviewed the progress of bilateral ties and identified new avenues for cooperation in trade, investment, innovation, food security, and renewable energy. Their discussions reflected growing economic complementarities and a shared interest in enhancing resilience amid an increasingly complex global environment.

The ministers also underscored the importance of stronger region-to-region engagement. Dr. Balakrishnan reiterated Singapore’s support for Türkiye’s efforts to deepen its relationship with ASEAN, highlighting the value of broader partnerships that contribute to regional stability and economic connectivity.

In addition, Mr. Fidan met H.E. Mr. K. Shanmugam, Coordinating Minister for National Security and Minister for Home Affairs. Their discussions focused on regional and international developments, with both sides reaffirming the importance of multilateralism and continued cooperation in addressing shared global challenges.
