Home to more than 3,000 birds from over 200 species, KL Bird Park offers an immersive wildlife experience where visitors can observe colourful birds roaming freely in one of the world’s largest walk-in aviaries
Nestled within the lush surroundings of Kuala Lumpur Lake Gardens, KL Bird Park has been one of Malaysia’s leading ecotourism attractions since opening in November 1991. Covering 20.9 acres, the park is home to more than 3,000 birds representing over 200 species from Malaysia and around the world, making it a must-visit destination for nature enthusiasts and families alike.

The park is best known for its renowned free-flight concept, widely recognised as the world’s largest free-flight walk-in aviary. Rather than being confined to cages, many of the birds roam freely in a carefully landscaped environment that closely resembles their natural habitat. The lush greenery also provides ideal nesting grounds, creating a thriving breeding environment for numerous species.

KL Bird Park is divided into four distinct zones. Zones 1 and 2 feature the expansive free-flight aviaries, where visitors can stroll among colourful birds. Zone 3 is dedicated to majestic hornbills, while Zone 4 houses a walk-in mini aviary featuring around 20 species of parrots, including macaws, cockatoos, lories and parakeets.
Visitors can enjoy a variety of interactive experiences, including bird feeding sessions with species such as ostriches, hornbills and eagles, as well as photography opportunities with selected birds. The park’s popular bird shows are held daily at the Amphitheatre at 12:30 pm and 3:30 pm, showcasing the intelligence and unique abilities of its feathered residents.

Beyond leisure visits, the park also caters to schools, corporate events, birthday celebrations, family days and even pre-wedding photography sessions. For those wishing to relax after exploring, the Hornbill Restaurant & Café offers a charming dining experience surrounded by tropical greenery, where hornbills are sometimes spotted nearby.

KL Bird Park is open daily from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, including weekends, public holidays and school holidays. Visitors can reach the park by taxi or via the KL Hop-On Hop-Off Double Decker bus service, alighting at Station No. 20 directly outside the main entrance.
