The Royal Thai Embassy in Singapore is presenting a landmark Royal Thai Costume Fashion Show under the theme “Threading Thai Heritage into Modern Elegance” as one of the signature highlights of Thai Festival 2026. Organised in collaboration with some of Thailand’s leading fashion designers and a renowned national show director, the showcase celebrates the enduring beauty of Chud Thai while supporting Thailand’s nomination for its inscription on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Ahead of the highly anticipated runway presentation, Her Excellency Mrs. Waraphannee Damrongmanee, Ambassador-Designate of Thailand to Singapore, welcomed the delegation of elite Thai designers and the show’s creative director to the Royal Thai Embassy on 9 July 2026. The meeting marked an important milestone in preparations for “Sartorial Diplomacy: Threading Thai Heritage into Modern Elegance,” which takes place on 10 July 2026 at the Embassy in Singapore.

To accommodate strong interest, the Embassy has organised the fashion showcase into two exclusive sessions. The first is reserved for members of the diplomatic corps and Singaporean media, while the second is a complimentary public session. Public response has been overwhelming, with more than 300 attendees securing registrations, bringing the event to full capacity well ahead of the show.

The runway presentation will feature more than 40 carefully curated ensembles, tracing the evolution of Thai royal attire and contemporary fashion. Audiences will experience the timeless craftsmanship of Vanus Couture alongside modern interpretations by Yayee, WITTA, the Rayong Provincial Chamber of Commerce, and the Office of Contemporary Art and Culture (OCAC). The production is directed and choreographed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Danai Rieabsakul from the Faculty of Decorative Arts, Silpakorn University, highlighting the seamless fusion of traditional artistry with modern design.

Following the fashion showcase, visitors can continue exploring Thailand’s textile heritage through the Chud Thai Mini-Exhibition, held at the Embassy’s Elephant Hall from 11 to 12 July 2026. The exhibition presents the evolution of royal Thai costumes alongside contemporary applications of traditional Thai fabrics, offering the public a deeper appreciation of the country’s rich cultural legacy and the significance of Chud Thai on the international stage.
