The discussions explored new opportunities to expand cooperation between two leading technological universities.
Professor Thomas Hofmann, President of the Technical University of Munich (TUM), visited Singapore to discuss future collaboration with local academic institutions. At Nanyang Technological University (NTU), he met NTU President Professor Ho Teck Hua to exchange ideas on advancing joint efforts in research, education, and innovation, building on the complementary strengths of both universities.
The discussions centred on strengthening collaboration through place, people, programmes, and intellectual property. Both universities explored ways to encourage greater interaction between researchers, entrepreneurs, and innovators within their respective campuses and innovation ecosystems, while creating more opportunities for faculty members, researchers, and students to participate in academic exchanges.
The meeting also explored potential Double Master’s programmes in disciplines where NTU and TUM are recognised as global leaders, alongside closer cooperation in research translation and commercialisation. During his visit, Professor Hofmann also met Public Service Commission (PSC) Scholarship recipients Ong Xin Yi and Zara Tan, who will pursue their studies at TUM.
