The Embassy of Switzerland in Singapore, in partnership with Swiss Re and SwissCham Singapore, hosted a discussion titled “Shock Absorbers in a Fragmenting World” to examine the global macroeconomic and insurance outlook. The session explored key developments shaping the global risk environment and their implications for businesses, insurers, and policymakers.

Chargée d’affaires a.i. Dr Regula Kurzbein opened the event before Mr John Zhu, Chief Economist APAC at Swiss Re, presented findings from the Swiss Re Institute’s latest World Insurance sigma report.
The presentation examined how changing macroeconomic conditions, geopolitical fragmentation, and investment in artificial intelligence were reshaping the global risk landscape. It also considered what these developments meant for insurers, businesses, and policymakers operating in an increasingly uncertain environment.
The programme concluded with a question-and-answer session between Mr Zhu and attendees.
