Delegations from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan conducted a field visit to key transport and logistics facilities along the Kazakhstan–China border on 10–11 August 2026, as both countries explored ways to increase freight traffic along the China–Kazakhstan–Uzbekistan corridor. The visit brought together senior officials led by Zhanibek Taizhanov, Vice Minister of Transport of Kazakhstan, and Mamanbiy Omarov, First Deputy Minister of Transport of Uzbekistan.

The working visit followed agreements reached during the 23rd meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission for Bilateral Cooperation, reflecting the two countries’ efforts to deepen practical cooperation in transport and logistics. The delegations examined Kazakhstan’s infrastructure and mechanisms for receiving, processing and transshipping cargo arriving from China, with particular attention to the capacity and efficiency of its railway and terminal networks.

During the visit, the officials toured Altynkol railway station, the Kedentransservice terminal, KTZE-Khorgos Gateway dry port and the Khorgos–Eastern Gate Special Economic Zone. These facilities form an important part of Kazakhstan’s logistics infrastructure connecting Chinese trade flows with Central Asian markets and provide key transit points for regional freight movement.

The discussions focused on increasing cargo volumes along the corridor, making more effective use of existing terminal capacities and developing joint logistics solutions between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. The two sides also considered opportunities to expand terminal infrastructure and improve the efficiency of freight handling as trade flows between China and Central Asia continue to grow.
