The Philippine Embassy in Singapore and members of the Filipino Community joined ASEAN diplomatic missions and communities for ASEAN U.N.I.T.E. 2026, promoting environmental stewardship, public hygiene and people-to-people solidarity.
The Philippine Embassy in Singapore, together with members of the Filipino Community, participated in the second ASEAN U.N.I.T.E. (“yoU aNd I Together Everytime”) on Sunday, 23 August 2026, at Punggol Coast Digital Village. The community initiative brought together more than 100 participants from ASEAN diplomatic missions and communities in Singapore in a collective effort to promote environmental responsibility and cleaner public spaces.

Organised by Singapore’s Public Hygiene Council (PHC), the event featured a community clean-up focused on strengthening public hygiene and environmental stewardship. Ms. Goh Hanyan, Senior Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment and Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth, attended as Guest of Honour. Philippine Ambassador to Singapore H.E. Medardo G. Macaraig joined fellow ASEAN Heads of Mission from Brunei, Cambodia, Myanmar, Thailand and Timor-Leste, as well as community participants, in the clean-up activity.

Beyond its environmental focus, ASEAN U.N.I.T.E. 2026 celebrated the region’s cultural diversity through a series of performances. Cultural presentations from the Philippines, Myanmar and Thailand were complemented by performances from volunteer organisations, including PHC’s R.I.S.E. Champions Network, Buddhist Recreation Retreat, Catholic Welfare Services, Mangrove Learning, MIND and ASEZ WAO.

Representing the Philippines, members of the United Cordillerans Chapter Singapore performed a traditional dance accompanied by live gong instruments, highlighting the rich cultural heritage of the Cordilleran region. Ms. Iveca Cale Villalon Ignacio, a Filipino healthcare worker who has served in Singapore for more than a decade and winner of the 2025 edition of I Can See Your Voice, also captivated the audience with two musical performances.

The Philippine Embassy’s participation in ASEAN U.N.I.T.E. 2026 supports the Philippines’ 2026 ASEAN Chairship under the theme “Navigating Our Future, Together”, particularly its focus on people empowerment and building a people-centred ASEAN Community. The initiative also provided an avenue for ASEAN diplomatic missions and communities to deepen friendship and people-to-people ties while working collectively towards cleaner, greener and more sustainable communities.
