
Kuwait joined the maritime forum in Singapore, which focused on navigational safety, marine environmental protection and cooperation in addressing maritime risks.
Mr. Mohammed Saud Al-Wuqayan, Acting Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the State of Kuwait in Singapore, participated in the 17th Co-operation Forum for the Straits of Malacca and Singapore, held from 25 to 26 August 2026.
Opening remarks were delivered by Mr. Jeffrey Siow, Singapore’s Minister for Transport and Second Minister for Finance, Dr. Hassan Wirajuda, former Minister for Foreign Affairs of Indonesia and President of Prasetiya Mulya University, and Mr. Arsenio Dominguez, Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization.
Established in 2007, the forum serves as a platform for consultation and cooperation among the littoral states, user states of the Straits of Malacca and Singapore, and maritime sector stakeholders. It focuses on enhancing navigational safety, protecting the marine environment and developing joint mechanisms to address maritime risks and incidents.
