A Thai delegation led by Mrs. Prakairatana Thontiravong paid a courtesy call on Thailand’s Ambassador to Singapore, H.E. Waraphannee Damrongmanee. The meeting focused on Singapore’s mediation system and potential practices Thailand could adapt to strengthen its own dispute resolution mechanisms.
A Thai delegation participating in Singapore Convention Week 2026 paid a courtesy call on H.E. Waraphannee Damrongmanee, Ambassador of Thailand to Singapore, at the Royal Thai Embassy on 25 August 2026. The delegation was led by Mrs. Prakairatana Thontiravong and included Mrs. Tongurai Limpiti, Chairman of the Board, and Mr. Rak Vorrakitpokatorn, Ph.D., Chief Executive Officer of Bangkok Commercial Asset Management Public Company Limited (BAM).
The meeting provided an opportunity for both sides to discuss the objectives of the delegation’s visit and exchange perspectives on mediation and dispute resolution practices. Particular attention was given to Singapore’s established mediation framework and its role in facilitating accessible and effective solutions to disputes.
The delegation explored the strengths of Singapore’s financial dispute resolution mechanisms, including the Financial Industry Disputes Resolution Centre (FIDReC). FIDReC provides an avenue for resolving disputes between consumers and financial institutions, supporting the fair and efficient settlement of financial-related complaints.
Discussions also highlighted Credit Counselling Singapore (CCS), which provides financial counselling and debt management assistance. The organisation’s approach to supporting individuals facing financial difficulties was among the practices considered during the exchange.
The two sides further discussed how relevant practices from Singapore could potentially be adapted to Thailand’s context to strengthen its own mediation mechanisms. The exchange underscored the value of regional knowledge-sharing and cooperation in developing effective dispute resolution systems and promoting greater confidence in mediation.
