High Commissioner attends Justin Lim exhibition opening in Singapore, highlighting bilateral ties.
H.E. Datin Paduka Anizan Siti Hajjar Adnin, High Commissioner of Malaysia to Singapore, attended the opening of Reverie: Paintings for the Observer and the Observed at The Private Museum, Singapore, on 17 September 2026. At the invitation of The Private Museum, the High Commissioner attended the event as Guest of Honour and viewed a survey of works by Malaysian painter Justin Lim, presented in Singapore with the collaboration of private collectors.
The exhibition featured paintings created by Justin Lim between 2020 and 2026. The works depicted domestic spaces, familiar objects, moments of stillness and ordinary experiences of daily life during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. According to the High Commissioner’s remarks, the works conveyed personal experiences while also reflecting experiences shared by people during a challenging period.
In her keynote remarks, the High Commissioner thanked The Private Museum and its representatives, including Founding Chairman Mr. Daniel Teo, Founding Director Ms. Rachel Teo, Director Ms. Claire Teo and Associate Director Mr. Aaron Teo, for the event.
She also congratulated Justin Lim on the exhibition and expressed appreciation for the efforts of the organiser, artist and partners in nurturing cultural relations and closer connections between the peoples of Malaysia and Singapore.
The High Commissioner noted that Reverie provided an opportunity for Malaysia and Singapore to develop people-to-people connections, which she described as essential to bilateral relations.
The exhibition also highlighted the role of artists and cultural practitioners in supporting people-to-people engagement between the two countries. The High Commissioner further noted that shared cultural activities involving artists, cultural practitioners and the public continued to contribute to Malaysia-Singapore bilateral relations.
The exhibition presented Justin Lim’s works from 2020 to 2026 to Singapore audiences for the first time, with works contributed through the collaboration of private collectors.
