Investment agreements cover energy, manufacturing, finance, infrastructure and other sectors in Kazakhstan.
Kazakhstan and China signed 10 agreements during the Kazakhstan-China Investment Forum in Almaty, supporting projects in energy, manufacturing, finance, infrastructure and other sectors. The documents were signed in the presence of the Head of State as part of the bilateral investment engagement held in Almaty.
Among the agreements, the akimat of Abai region and a consortium comprising Xinjiang Sanbao Industrial Group Co., Ltd. and Inner Mongolia Wanjiang Investment Co., Ltd. agreed to construct an electrolytic aluminium production plant and an associated wind power station in Abai region. The parties also signed an agreement on establishing a particle board manufacturing plant in Semey.
Samruk-Energy JSC, China Energy Overseas Investment Co., Ltd. and SANY Renewable Energy Co., Ltd. signed an agreement on joint project development. In the renewable energy sector, the Akmola region akimat and SUNGROW Renewable Development Co., Ltd. agreed to cooperate on wind power projects with a total capacity of 450 MW in Akmola region.
Financial cooperation was also included in the package. Kazakh Invest NC JSC and Silk Road Finance Corporation signed an agreement on key terms for establishing a specialised investment fund at the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC) to finance prospective projects in Kazakhstan.
The Almaty akimat and Guotai Junan Securities (Hong Kong) Limited signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in arranging and supporting the issuance of dim sum bonds on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.
Other agreements covered automotive manufacturing, fertiliser production and urban development. The East Kazakhstan akimat and East Motors Corporation LLP signed a memorandum of intent for a high-tech automotive manufacturing complex producing passenger and specialised vehicles. The Turkistan region akimat and Turan Chemical Company LLP agreed to cooperate on a urea fertiliser production plant.
The Almaty akimat, Everest Development and SunnyWorld Group signed an agreement concerning a multifunctional complex featuring an internationally branded hotel and business centre. The Development Bank of Kazakhstan JSC and China Construction Bank Corporation Astana Branch also signed an agreement on preliminary financing terms to support investment projects in priority sectors of Kazakhstan’s economy.
