Brunei Crown Prince toured SAFTI City and observed Singapore Armed Forces training demonstrations.
Senior Minister of State for Defence Zaqy Mohamad hosted His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office of Brunei Darussalam, for a visit to SAFTI City on 30 September 2026. His Royal Highness was in Singapore from 28 September to 2 October for the 12th Singapore-Brunei Young Leaders’ Programme.
Also present was Minister of Transport and Infocommunications Dato Mohammed Riza. They were accompanied by Chief of Defence Force Vice-Admiral Aaron Beng and senior officials from Singapore and Brunei Darussalam.
During the visit, His Royal Highness received a briefing on how SAFTI City supports realistic and complex urban training for the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF). He toured the facility and observed several demonstrations, including a simulation of battlefield effects.
His Royal Highness also fired the Singapore Assault Rifle 21 and SAKO TRG-22 Sniper Rifle. He viewed an indoor flight demonstration of an Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) drone and static displays of SAFTI City’s training systems.
The visit took place as Singapore and Brunei Darussalam commemorate 50 years of defence relations in 2026. Over the past five decades, the Singapore Armed Forces and Royal Brunei Armed Forces have maintained regular interactions through high-level visits, professional exchanges, and bilateral and multilateral exercises.
These engagements have supported cooperation and mutual understanding between personnel of the two armed forces. Singapore said it remained committed to building on this foundation and further developing its defence relationship with Brunei Darussalam in the years ahead.
