Thai cuisine event showcased culinary creativity through a friendly competition in Singapore
The Thailand Ambassador to Singapore, Her Excellency Waraphannee Damrongmanee, presented her credentials to President Tharman Shanmugaratnam on 29 September 2026, before hosting the “Art & Innovation of Thai Cuisine – Culinary Challenge 2026” at the Royal Thai Embassy in Singapore later that day.
The event was organised to showcase Thai ingredients, cuisine and the Thai SELECT certification, with the Office of Commercial Affairs (Thai Trade Centre), Singapore, managing an exhibition and display of Thai products and ingredients.
The programme began with opening remarks by the Ambassador of Thailand to Singapore, followed by congratulatory remarks from the Director of the Office of Commercial Affairs (Thai Trade Centre), Singapore. Guests then viewed presentations and sampled three courses, comprising an appetiser, main course and dessert.
Chefs from participating restaurants presented their respective dishes as part of the Culinary Challenge, which was described as the first friendly competition of its kind under the programme. Guests were invited to vote for their favourite dish from each participating restaurant, with the results announced during a certificate presentation ceremony at the conclusion of the event.
The voting activity also provided an opportunity to highlight the participating restaurants through the Embassy’s communication channels. The event featured Thai ingredients and dishes prepared with modern approaches, showcasing how traditional Thai cuisine could be presented through contemporary culinary concepts.
