The initiative followed agreements reached during the 2024 State Visit to Singapore by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan and Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong’s visit to Kazakhstan in 2026. These high-level engagements provided the context for translating bilateral agreements into practical cooperation in water management.

During the programme, the delegation examined Singapore’s experience in integrated water management, reducing water losses, water reclamation and reuse, and flood management. Discussions and technical exchanges also covered the digitalisation and automation of water infrastructure, providing insights into Singapore’s systems and operational approaches.
