In his remarks, DSG San Lwin emphasised the importance of preparing workers for evolving labour market requirements as ASEAN economies pursue more sustainable development pathways. Equipping the workforce with relevant skills was essential to enabling people to participate in the green transition and respond to changes in employment needs associated with the shift towards greener economic activities.

The report highlighted the need for TVET systems to respond more effectively to labour market demand. Aligning training and skills development with employment requirements would help ensure that workers acquire competencies relevant to green jobs. Better labour market data intelligence was also identified as an important area for cooperation, supporting a clearer understanding of skills demand and helping inform workforce development policies.

DSG San Lwin called for continued cooperation among ASEAN Member States, sectoral bodies and external partners to facilitate a just and inclusive green transition, with no one left behind. His remarks highlighted the role of regional cooperation in supporting workforce readiness and ensuring that the benefits and opportunities associated with greener economies remained inclusive.
