During the discussions, Singapore emphasised the importance of maintaining an open and connected Asia-Pacific region, particularly in response to evolving global challenges. The country highlighted its commitment to strengthening regional economic resilience, maintaining trade connectivity and preparing its workforce for future developments.

Singapore’s contributions focused on three key areas: keeping supply chains resilient and maritime trade routes open, promoting people-to-people exchanges, and supporting workforce preparedness for the future. These priorities reflected Singapore’s approach to sustaining regional connectivity and ensuring that economies remained able to respond to changing global conditions.

The meeting was co-chaired by China’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi and Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao. Singapore also acknowledged China’s leadership in hosting APEC activities during its chairmanship in 2026.

The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum comprises 21 member economies and provides a platform for regional cooperation on trade, investment and economic development. Its ministerial meetings enable participating economies to exchange views and discuss shared priorities in addressing regional and global economic challenges.
