Chief of Air Force Major-General Kelvin Khong and Indonesian Air Force Chief of Staff Air Chief Marshal Fadjar Prasetyo mark the conclusion of Exercise Elang Indopura at Roesmin Nurjadin Air Force Base, Pekanbaru.

Singapore and Indonesia celebrated the successful conclusion of the 22nd edition of Exercise Elang Indopura as Chief of Air Force Major-General (MG) Kelvin Khong and Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU) Air Chief Marshal (ACM) Fadjar Prasetyo co-officiated the closing ceremony. The event took place at Roesmin Nurjadin Air Force Base in Pekanbaru, Indonesia, earlier today.

Conducted from November 18 to November 30, 2023, at the Roesmin Nurjadin Air Force Base, this exercise marked a significant milestone with the inclusion of air-to-air refuelling utilizing the RSAF’s A330 Multi-Role Tanker Transport. Approximately 300 personnel from both air forces participated, involving six of the RSAF’s F-16C/D, one A330 Multi-Role Tanker Transport, and sixteen TNI AU’s F-16C/D.

Reiterating the robust bilateral ties between the RSAF and TNI AU, MG Khong stated, “Exercise Elang Indopura has grown in mission complexity over the years. This year, the inclusion of Air-to-Air refuelling showcased the teamwork and mutual trust between the TNI AU and the RSAF. I anticipate more opportunities for such collaborations in future exercises to deepen our bilateral cooperation.”

ACM Fadjar echoed this sentiment, emphasizing, “This joint exercise has been an embodiment of our shared strategic vision and mutual dedication to maintaining peace in the region.” He expressed gratitude to MG Kelvin Khong, the airmen and women of the RSAF and the TNI AU, and all contributors for making the exercise a resounding success. The collaboration between TNI AU and RSAF demonstrates a strong partnership committed to enhancing stability and security in the region.

Exercise Elang Indopura serves as a vital platform to enhance professionalism, cooperation, and mutual trust between the two air forces. This year’s edition marks the 22nd bilateral air exercise, underscoring the close and longstanding bilateral defense relations between Singapore and Indonesia. In addition to Exercise Elang Indopura, the two air forces regularly engage in a wide range of exercises and activities, including visits, professional exchanges, and cross-attendance of courses.
