In a meeting between AI-specialised institutions in Singapore and the High Commission of Sri Lanka held in Singapore, recently, discussions centred around fostering collaboration in the realm of Artificial Intelligence (AI). High Commissioner Senarath Dissanayake, representing Sri Lanka, outlined the country’s vision for leveraging AI to advance its national development agenda. The meeting aimed to explore opportunities that could enhance bilateral relations and overcome common challenges.
Key stakeholders from Singapore, including the School of Computing at the National University of Singapore (NUS) and AI Singapore, expressed their enthusiasm for collaborating with Sri Lankan counterparts in the field of AI. Both entities voiced their commitment to building a cooperative partnership to exchange best practices and insights on AI governance. Additionally, they pledged support for Sri Lanka’s efforts in augmenting AI expertise through training programs, workshops, and collaborations with local academics. There were also discussions regarding the potential licensing of AI Singapore’s resources to assist Sri Lanka’s AI initiatives.
The meeting saw the participation of notable figures from Singapore, including Prof. Tan Kian Lee, the Dean of the School of Computing at NUS, Prof. Mohan Kankanhali, Deputy Executive Chairman of AI Singapore, Mr. Lawrence Leiw, Director of AI Innovation Singapore, and Prof. Suranga Nanayakkara, Associate Professor at the School of Computing at NUS.
