Indian Naval Ships Delhi, Shakti, and Kiltan bolster strategic relations with the Republic of Singapore Navy through collaborative engagements, affirming commitment to maritime security and cooperation in the Indo-Pacific
UNDER the command of Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet RAdm Rajesh Dhankhar, the Indian Naval Ships Delhi, Shakti, and Kiltan arrived at Singapore on 6th May 2024. Both the Republic of Singapore Navy officers and the Indian High Commissioner in Singapore Dr. Shilpak Ambule, extended them a hearty welcome. The visit was a strategic part of the Indian Navy’s Operational Deployment to the South China Sea, aimed to strengthen ties between the two maritime nations through various engagements and activities.
During their stay in the harbour, the ships participated in a range of activities, including interactions with the High Commission of India, professional engagements with the Republic of Singapore Navy, as well as interactions with academia and the local community. These activities reflected the shared values and interests of both navies, contributing to the strengthening of their longstanding friendship and cooperation.
The Indian Navy and the Republic of Singapore Navy have maintained strong relations for over three decades, characterised by cooperation, coordination, and collaboration with regular visits, exchange of best practices, and reciprocal training arrangements have been significant in enhancing the ties between the two navies, highlighting the depth of their partnership.
Visit to Information Fusion Centre
The Indian Navy delegation also paid a visit to the Information Fusion Centre (IFC) Singapore on 7th May 2024, aimed to strengthen maritime security cooperation between India and Singapore. Discussions focused on the current maritime security landscape in the region and strategies to address emergent threats. The delegation emphasised the importance of collaboration between IFC Singapore and India in effectively addressing maritime challenges.
Discussion with the High Commissioner
In addition, RAdm Rajesh Dhankhar engaged in discussions with Dr. Shilpak Ambule, High Commissioner of India to Singapore, focusing on the strong naval ties between India and Singapore. The discussions centred on the current maritime situation in the Indo-Pacific region and the role played by the Indian Navy in promoting Security And Growth for All in the Region (SAGAR).
