The Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) joined Exercise Cobra Gold 2025, a major multinational military exercise co-hosted by Thailand and the United States.

The Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) took part in the multinational Exercise Cobra Gold 2025 (XCG25), held from 25 February to 7 March at Camp Suranaree, Korat, Thailand. Co-hosted by the Royal Thai Armed Forces (RTARF) and the United States Indo-Pacific Command (US INDOPACOM), the exercise brought together military forces from Australia, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, and the Republic of Korea. The SAF has been a full participant in this annual exercise since 2000.

XCG25 focused on multilateral joint operations to address both traditional and non-traditional security threats. The exercise also included planning and coordination for a Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) operation. A total of 247 SAF personnel across all four military services took part, with the contingent led by Chief Guards Officer/Commander, 21st Singapore Division, COL Wong Pui Chuan. SAF personnel assumed key exercise roles, including leadership positions and planning roles within the Multinational Combined Task Force. The Digital and Intelligence Service (DIS) also participated in a Cyber Defence Exercise, conducting incident handling and response operations against simulated cyber threats.

A significant milestone for XCG25 was the inaugural participation of the Republic of Singapore Navy’s Endurance-class Landing Ship Tank (LST), RSS Endeavour, in ship-to-shore operations alongside naval forces from the Republic of Korea, the United States, and Thailand. Additionally, combat engineers from the Singapore Army contributed to the Engineer Civic Assistance Programme, constructing a multi-purpose building for Ban Dong Marum School in Lop Buri, Thailand.

As one of the largest multinational military exercises in the Asia-Pacific region, Exercise Cobra Gold enhances mutual understanding, cooperation, and professionalism among participating armed forces, reinforcing regional security and collaboration.
