A distinguished delegation of Kazakhstani scientists has arrived in Singapore on 21 July 2025 at the invitation of the Singaporean side, marking a new chapter in bilateral cooperation in the area of countering religious extremism and terrorism. The visit reflects growing international collaboration in addressing global security challenges through academic and community-based approaches.

The delegation includes Professor Askar Sabdin, a renowned theologian and professor of Religious Studies, whose work focuses on spiritual security and the prevention of radicalisation. Joining him is Ms Yuliya Shapoval, an educator and expert in rehabilitation and deradicalisation programmes, as well as Mr Talgat Chinikeyev, Honorary Consul of Singapore in Kazakhstan and a key advocate for enhancing cultural and academic ties between the two countries.

During their visit, the delegates will engage with local institutions, researchers, and community leaders to exchange insights on best practices in promoting interfaith dialogue and building community resilience. The discussions are set to explore potential joint initiatives in education, policy development, and grassroots engagement.

The visit comes at a time when cross-border collaboration is increasingly vital in addressing complex issues such as extremism. By fostering knowledge exchange and shared understanding, Singapore and Kazakhstan are reinforcing their commitment to peace, security, and social cohesion.
